In 1994, at the request of some students from the Santa María del Mar School, the Sports Department of Salou City Council started Volleyball in schools, competing in school competitions organized by the Sports Council.
Given the success and interest of the players to be able to play federated competition, in 1998 the Salou Volleyball Club was founded with the help of parents and the City Council of Salou through the Sports Area.
This season there were two teams, a Senior Male and a Female Cadet, competing in the Catalan Championship.
School or grassroots teams continue to depend on the Sports Department of the City Council with the collaboration of the Club until the 2003/04 season, it is not until the 2004/05 season that the base becomes directly dependent on the Club Volleyball Salou. During these years, important achievements have been made since its foundation.
In the 2004/05 season the senior women's team was promoted to the 1st Catalan Division and this season is struggling to qualify among the top four to play in the play-offs for promotion to the 1st National Division.
In the 2005/06 season, the women's youth team was also promoted to the 1st Catalan Division, which it had to give up when the team withdrew from the competition in the 2006/07 season after the first round.
The 2006/07 season was the most fruitful as the Women's Cadet team was promoted to the 1st Catalan Division and the Senior Men's team was promoted to the 1st National Division.
The 2007/08 season was the most numerous in terms of teams, as there were up to ten teams competing, five teams in federated competition Senior Men's, Senior Women's, Youth Men's (for the first time we had a men's base team) , Women's Youth and Women's Cadet; and five teams in school competition (all categories except youth).
The Men's Youth team competed in the 1st Division of the Championship of Catalonia and won the runner-up. The Women's Youth team that competed in the 3rd Division of the Catalan Championship was promoted to the 2nd Division.
In 2012 this club took on the challenge of organizing the "XXXVII SM La Reina Cup" Women's Volleyball Tournament, an edition that was developed with an excellent both in terms of sports and public attendance.
In the 2012/13 season the club had the presence in the 1st division of the Senior Men's, Senior Women's and Men's Youth teams, as well as the Youth, Cadet and Children's teams in the 2nd division, to the disappointment of the relegation of the Senior team. Women in the 2nd division, was compensated by the promotion achieved by the Women's Infantile team in the 1st division. While school volleyball is kept alive, the basis for nurturing federated teams of players and players.
In the 2013/14 season, the number of teams registered in the federated competition was six, the return of the Senior Women's team to the 1st division was achieved at the end of this season.
New season 2014/15, begins with all the registered equipment competing in the 1a division of the Championship of Catalonia, before the lack of players the Masvenil Masculí equipment cause loss of this competition. In the category of school the equipment Cadet and Infantile Feminine are runners-up in the match "Trophy of sports of association". The Women's and Cadet Women's teams are relegated to the 2nd division.
In this 2015/16 season a new stage begins at the club as the Senior Men's and Women's teams leave the Championship of Catalonia, a stage in which the current Women's Youth Team, Cadet and the two Infantile teams become the near future that we hope will be full of great successes and goals to be achieved. Season in which four teams will participate in federated competition and two teams in school.
